(link in curtesy of xxx)

For those who have not been particularly interested in food, foie gras is actually goose liver, and means "fat liver" in french. Being a French delicacy, it has been described to have a rich, buttery and delicate taste.

I've eaten this around...3 or 4 times in my life I guess, but that'll probably be the last. Once grilled and the other methods of cooking which I've forgotten. Well yes, it tastes really nice and requires some skills from the chef..but whatever, DON'T EAT THEM EVER AGAIN!!!

watch the video and you'll understand.

THE PROCESS, SUMMARIZED:

Bascially, only male ducks are selected cause female ducks' livers are tangled with veins and vessels. Approx. 45% of a batch will be female, and workers will just sort them out, and THROW THE CUTE FEMALE DUCKLINGS INTO A GARBAGE BAG, which will be gased or just knotted and thrown away.

Then, these carcasses will be thrown into bins, even if some are still living. The surviving males would be fed and the factory would wait for them to grow into big fat ducks.

That's not the end of it. The smaller "unacceptable" ducks would be put into cages and killed. Some will get their necks twisted, their heads ripped off, knocked against concrete poles and die while having convulsions. These acts are all done gleefully by workers there. They're numb, they have no heart, and probably won't even know the meaning of the word "numb".

Think you're acceptable and will definitly live a happy life? Mygawd, no. These ducks would be put into cages, grabbed by their wings and thrown all around in the process. Nobody'll care about broken wings or necks or anything, they just need the liver, don't they?

Yup, the liver. When they're old enough (a month), they'll be put through the feeding cycle. What's that, you ask? Its where the workers SHOVE a metal rod around 12 inches down their throat and FORCE feed them with something to induce a liver disease such that the liver would be big, fat and tasty. And they'll be bloated.

After a few days of the feeding cycle, some of them would be so bloated till the vomit, can't lift their heads or die.

Then, they'll be hung upside down and slaughtered.

delicious?

...not really.

Tell me, do you STILL want foie gras?

SAY NO TO FOIE GRAS/SHARK'S FIN
(and anything cruel I can find in the future)!

IF YOU DON'T BUY THEM, THERE'LL BE A LESSER DEMAND FOR THEM SO THESE FACTORIES WILL PRODUCE LESS. (i just ditched the cheem terms)

Every single drop of water makes up the ocean. Play a part now and DON'T EAT FOIE GRAS EVER, EVER AGAIN!
